Did you know your health insurance may reimburse you for going to the gym?
If you have a gym membership, you may be eligible to get reimbursed for working out. Most health insurance companies offer full or partial reimbursement for your gym memberships. All you have to do is ask for a receipt from your gym and fill out a form from your health insurance company. You can either mail this in, or some you may be able to do electronically.
Your receipt must show:
- The gym name
- Somewhere stating that it is a gym or fitness business
- Your name
- The amount you paid
- How you paid
- Some times they will have you also print out your attendance to the gym. If you don't use your membership, they are not going to pay for it.
Your health insurance company may pay or reimburse you for other health and wellness related item such as massage, acupuncture, purchasing gym equipment, blood pressure cuffs, and sending you a free heart rate monitors. The best way to find out is to go to your health insurance website and find out what benefits your plan has. There should be a form to fill out, just follow the directions and make sure to attach all additional documents it asks for.
